Like Chewing Gum

Like Chewing Gum, a three-part group work, flows in a narrative-style presentation brought to life by a cast of insanely tragic characters. An infamous quote from the former CEO of Merck, Henry Gadsden, sums up the driving force behind this piece: “I want to sell drugs to everyone. I want to sell drugs to healthy people. I want drugs to sell like chewing gum.” The piece features an intense scene of a CEO conducting his symphony of  puppet-like patients and doctors, a solo to the list of side effects for a anti-depressant, a worship dance circle between the doctor and patients, and comes to a climax, ending in a Shakespeare-style death scene.
