As the Treasurer, Mechele will manage financial records and analyze financial reports to notice trends (good or bad) in order to direct CLDC in the proper direction of long-term financial stability. She will track project and annual budget projections as set by our Executive Director. She will also serve as an advisor for fundraiser, donor, and grant opportunities to keep CLDC around as a thriving organization for a long time to come!

Amber Steele

Amber comes to CLDC with a dynamic background as a choreographer, company director, arts administrator, dance professor, and professional dancer. She currently serves as a tenured professor and the chair of the Skyline College Dance Department. She is also the Artistic Director, Choreographer and Coordinator for the Skyline College Performing Arts Showcase, Spring Musicals, and Annual Dance Shows. She also serves as a faculty advisor.

Along with her collegiate commitments, Amber continues her artistic creations as the CEO of the Steele Dance Company. Along with serving as the Artistic and Rehearsal Director, she teaches repertory and technique master classes.  Amber graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Theater, Dance & Performance Studies and Comparative Literature (emphasis in English and French). In 2008, Steele completed her Master of Fine Arts in Choreography at Mills College.

As the Secretary, Amber will record the minutes of each board meeting, maintain any other company records, and initiate any internal company communication as needed. She will also serve as an advisor to drafting official founding company documents and in important communications to the public (donor appeals, press releases, and grant applications). Her experience and strong know-how make her an invaluable contribution as a leader for the CLDC team!

Sarah Wong
Chair of Fundraising Committee

Sarah comes to CLDC with a vibrant background of culinary creation and event planning. First earning her B.A. in Studio Art form Pitzer College, she then graduated from Tante Marie Professional Culinary School. She began her career as a chef and pastry chef in restaurants such as Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion and Noelani’s. She then transferred her career over to event planning beginning at the children’s book store The Reading Bug and then as the Party-Event coordinator for The American Girl Doll Corporation. In 2005 she hedged her own way and started her own business: Sarah Lindsay Cakes; in 2014 she began her other business: Midnight Wreaths.

Currently, Sarah continues to grow her two successful businesses–one cake and wreath at a time! She also works with an educational non-profit where she serves as the fundraising coordinator and Gala organizer. She is a loving mother, and wife: raising two nerds-in-training with an “enginerd”  husband in the peninsula. Always eyeing the next new business horizon, Sarah one day would love to be a matchmaker and help people find love!

As the chair of the Fundraising Committee, Sarah will design, organize, and run fundraising events such as galas, movie viewing-parties, social dance classes, auctions, and more! She also will serve as an advisor to the Executive director to help lead CLDC into the future of creating interactive and socially-centered performances. We want our shows to be more than just audience members sitting in chairs watching us…and Sarah has the know-how to lead us there!
